Quick Overview

Since its release in 2008, Citra has been one of the most recognized and used flavor and aroma hops by craft brewers and homebrewers alike. Notable commercial examples are endless but Psuedo Sue from Toppling Goliath and Zombie Dust from Three Floyds are notorious for using Citra as the sole hop. This American hop has a lineage featuring Hallertau Mittelfruh, US Tettnang, East Kent Goldings, Brewer’s Gold, and others. The high Myrcene content provides a strong aromatic profile of citrus and tropical fruit.

Product Overview

Citra is currently one of the most sought after hops among craft and home brewers for their intense citrus aroma and flavor. Grapefruit and lime aromas along with gooseberry, passion fruit, and lychee notes. Currently one of the top choices for late hop additions or dry hopping when you want to make that ultimate hop bomb IPA or Pale Ale. Citra also has a fairly high alpha acid content making it a good choice for bittering IPAs, Pales, and American Ales. Supply has been limited in the industry but MoreBeer! loved this hop from day one and bought a lot of it years ago on contract.

Pellet hops

The hops did come quick. I use them to make a hops tea and also Kombucha. Hops tea was bitter which is to be expected I guess but still good. But the hops gave my kombucha a nice aroma and taste. Will order more hops probably different varieties though to try.
